McQueeney VFD Receives Grant for Attack Pumper Truck from the Texas A&M Forestry Service

Recently, the McQueeney VFD was notified that it had been awarded a grant for a new response vehicle from the Texas A&M Forestry Service.  The value of the grant is $265,000! Catch is, the department has to absorb the expense of outfitting the truck with the equipment necessary to make it response ready. This will be very expensive–possibly another $200,000. Some of the expense can be covered by selling some of our current vehicles, but the rest will have to be covered with donated funds from the community. There are some real advantages to having this truck in the fleet. A big one is the fact that a CDL license will not be required of the driver–any of our licensed volunteers would be able to legally drive this vehicle, and this will really serve to shorten response time. It would really be a shame to have to turn down this grant.

Shortly, our community property owners will be receiving our annual Chief’s Letter fund raiser letter. Please consider a generous donation, possibly even partnering with us on this new vehicle. As always, donations of any amount are appreciated.
