Just before 4am on Sunday McQueeney Fire was notified of a structure fire off Lakecreek Dr.
McQueeney Fire units responded within a matter of minutes with 4 apparatus while simultaneously calling for mutual aid support and manpower from Lake Dunlap, New Braunfels, Marion, and Guadalupe County Fire Departments. Due to the level of involvement and extension of the fire into the structure it became a long duration incident and additional resources were called in from Seguin and Cibolo Fire Departments for manpower and water supply. In total over 40 firefighters responded to the call. Despite an aggressive initial interior attack there was an extensive amount of smoke and fire damage to approximately 2/3 of the home due to wind and the location of the fire inside the home. Units worked for around 7 hours before clearing scene. We’re happy to report there was no loss of life nor were there any injuries to residents, firefighters, or animals. The incident was turned over to Guadalupe County Fire Marshals Office for further investigation. We’d like to thank our mutual aid partners for their assistance on this incident. As well as Schertz EMS for sending a medic unit for standby during the response.
