McQueeney VFD Parades Through Neighborhoods Served
On Monday evening, April 20, the McQueeney VFD paraded fire department vehicles through the McQueeney area neighborhoods, sirens and horns blasting. Areas visited included Lake Ridge, McQueeney Estates, Woodlake, Downtown McQueeney, Cypress Grove and the Altwein Lane communities. Many residents came out to wave flags and show their support and appreciation.

McQueeney VFD Finalizes Purchase of Land for New Fire Station
The McQueeney Volunteer Fire Department is in the final stages of purchasing 3 acres of land at the intersection of FM 725 and Lakeview Trail as the location for our proposed new fire station. This Public Notice sign is required under the Guadalupe County Subdivision rules and it does NOT mean a new housing subdivision is being proposed for this location.
We are excited about our plans to grow the fire department and improve the level of service we provide to the community.

McQueeney VFD Responds to Fire in Altwein Lane Estates
At approximately 5:30 PM Sunday Nov. 25, the McQueeney Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a reported kitchen fire at 124 Rosemary Loop. The initial report from dispatch indicated the fire started on the stove, all occupants were out of the residence and the occupants had turned off the electric power to the structure. The fire department arrived within 6 minutes of dispatch to find a doublewide manufactured home with smoke venting from the roof and front door. Due to the amount of smoke seen, we requested an engine from Lake Dunlap Volunteer Fire Department. An initial attack hose line was deployed through the front door and the fire was located in the kitchen and quickly extinguished while other personnel searched the remainder of the residence to confirm that no one was still inside the house. The fire was was under control within 30 minutes and the fire department remained on scene until 7:30 PM to confirm the fire was fully extinguished and to assist the fire marshal with his investigation. One engine, one rescue truck and 9 firefighters from McQueeney and one engine, one rescue truck and firefighters from Lake Dunlap operated under the command of Chief Tim Bogisch. In addition to Lake Dunlap, we would like to thank GCSO deputies and Seguin Fire Marshal Greg Dreiss for their assistance.
McQueeney VFD Assists With York Creek Structure Fire
At 8:00 A.M. on 11-06-19 McQueeney VFD was called to assist York Creek VFD with a structure fire on Hwy 123 across from Geronimo Dr. Geronimo VFD and Seguin FD also assisted with the fire. Pictures courtesy of York Creek VFD.

McQueeney VFD Awarded Power Up Grant
On Monday, October 7, GVEC presented a Power Up grant for $20,000 to the McQueeney Volunteer Fire Department. One of the missions of the Power Up program is to reinvest money into the communities which GVEC serves by presenting grants to local nonprofit groups. The funds for the grant are acquired by members allowing GVEC to round up their electrical bill to the nearest dollar, and collecting the difference as a donation. Approximately 20% of collected funds are distributed for community assistance to help low income and elderly members pay their electric bills. The other 80% are distributed through grants to nonprofit groups and civic organizations. Applications are completed by the organizations requesting the grants and evaluated by a Review Committee
The funds awarded to McQueeney VFD will be used to purchase new battery powered extrication tools. We’re excited to add this new equipment to our department so we can continue to provide the highest level of service to our community.
